Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork grounded in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is a holistic therapy that combines deep relaxation with effective therapeutic treatment, supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Shiatsu works by addressing the underlying cause of imbalance rather than focusing solely on symptoms. Through attentive listening and skilled touch, each treatment is tailored to the individual, using a combination of acupressure, gentle stretching, and bodywork to restore balance and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. As each person’s pattern of disharmony is unique, no two treatments are the same.

Treatments are performed with the client fully clothed, resting comfortably on a futon on the floor. Pressure may range from light to deep, depending on individual needs and preferences. Many people experience significant benefit from a single session, while ongoing or chronic conditions may respond best to a series of treatments. Shiatsu is also highly valued as a form of preventative care, stress relief, and self-care.

Shiatsu can be helpful for a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, stress and anxiety, fatigue and sleep issues, digestive concerns, women’s health, emotional wellbeing, and support during times of transition.

Massage

Massage therapy supports relaxation, pain relief, and overall wellbeing. Treatments are tailored to your individual needs and may include aromatherapy massage, deep tissue techniques, or hot stone therapy. Each session is approached with care and mindful attention, supporting both physical and emotional balance.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is a gentle, flowing style of massage combined with the therapeutic use of essential oils. Carefully selected oils are used to support relaxation, uplift mood, ease stress, and promote nervous system balance. This style is ideal for those seeking deep relaxation, emotional support, and restorative self-care.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on relieving chronic muscle tension, postural strain, and restricted movement. Using slower, more targeted techniques, this style works into deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release long-held tension and improve mobility. Pressure is always adapted to your comfort level and therapeutic needs.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage uses smooth, warmed stones placed on the body and incorporated into the massage to gently soften muscles and encourage deep relaxation. The warmth helps improve circulation, reduce muscular tension, and create a profound sense of grounding and ease. This treatment is particularly supportive during times of stress, fatigue, or feeling overwhelmed.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a holistic practice that supports physical health, mental clarity, emotional balance, and a deeper connection to inner wisdom. Often described as yoga with soul, it combines movement, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation to create a powerful yet accessible practice.

Originally brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in 1968, Kundalini Yoga is a non-competitive and internally focused practice. Rather than striving for perfection in postures, the emphasis is on self-awareness, presence, and cultivating resilience from within. The practice works on the nervous and endocrine systems, helping to reduce stress, regulate emotions, and support overall vitality.

Classes typically involve rhythmic movements coordinated with the breath, periods of rest, and meditation, often practiced with the eyes closed. This combination helps calm the mind, shift the body out of stress response, and promote clarity, focus, and a sense of inner ease.

Kundalini Yoga is suitable for all levels of experience. While the practice can be physically and mentally engaging, students are encouraged to work at their own pace and within their own capacity. Beginners and experienced practitioners practice side by side, each gaining benefit from the shared group energy and supportive environment.

Regular practice may help reduce anxiety and depression, improve sleep and energy levels, enhance emotional awareness, balance hormones, and foster a strong sense of self, wellbeing, and vitality.

“The first time I received Shiatsu with Gurudaya was seven years ago and since then my family and I have been to see her numerous times. One of the things that stands out for me during a treament with Gurudaya is her calm, gentle manner. Her hands may only slightly touch my skin and yet the effects are stronger than anything else I’ve experienced. Each time I have a treatment I feel completely at peace and can feel my nervous system in “rest and repair”. Gurudaya is a truly gifted practitioner    -   Natasha O'leary

Gurudaya was very good and professional and had the perfect touch, using mild to moderate pressure during my relaxation massage. She did some extra work on my neck which had been a bit painful and I felt relief afterwards. I also felt very good and relaxed at the end of my treatment. Overall a great relaxation massage and great experience.
